Great Trees at Crawford House Cocktails & Collections
Step into the new Great Trees of Newburgh map and take a virtual walking tour with the GNPC’s Kathy Lawrence and Environmental Justice (EJ) Fellows. Kathy and EJ Fellows will share historical, cultural, and botanical highlights of a dozen Newburgh trees, solicit ideas on more trees to feature, and underscore the need to protect these living legacies. They will also advocate for a new era of public tree planting and park development to continue and expand Andrew Jackson Downing’s vision of integrated public greenspaces for all.
Come and enjoy an evening with us at the Crawford House while sipping on a cocktail or mocktail. This lecture is free to the public, though we suggest a donation of $10.
EARTH DAY 2026
Join us for an Earth Day Community Stewardship event at South Middle School! We'll be caring for shade trees and pollinator meadows we've planted on the campus. Be sure to wear your work clothes you don't mind getting dirty!
If you have gloves and tools, please bring them. We'll also have plenty to provide for all volunteers.
Together we will maintain and nurture these beautiful natural assets. We'll:
Weed
Water
Mulch
Repair fencing and trees guards
Learn together about how much these trees and plants do for us

NUFFI's 2026 Urban Farming Fair
The Newburgh Urban Farming Fair is a celebration of fresh food, local vendors, crafts, and farm fun. Attendees will learn about urban farming and gardening and participate in “how to demonstrations” about what they can do in their own yards and neighborhoods.
Many Newburgh groups will have a presence, including Newburgh’s 2024 Environmental Justice Fellows.

I Love My Park Day--the largest single-day volunteer event in NYS--presents a perfect opportunity to clean up our favorite parks and shorelines, plant trees and gardens, restore trails and wildlife habitat, remove invasive species, and work on various site improvement projects--all which help to prepare our iconic state park system and public lands for the start of the season.

Help us water, weed and protect the 27 shade & flowering trees we planted at NFA Main Campus in 2023 through the Planting Power Newburgh project to replace missing trees, shade a public street and a school parking lot and enhance students’ learning environment. Meet us on Fullerton Ave. north of South St. and keep an eye out for our little white watering truck.
Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty and bring your own gloves and hand trowels if you have them. (We also have some if needed!)

Join us in the side parking lot on Gidney Ave, east of the main school entrance to help maintain this rich outdoor classroom and oasis of biodiversity. Keep an eye out for our little white watering truck!

Join Habitat’s Annual Walk for Housing! Registration begins at 12:00pm at Washington’s Headquarters and the walk begins at 1:00pm.
On the walk you’ll see completed homes, ongoing construction, and be reminded of the progress that is possible when we come together to build homes, community and hope.
NUFFI's 2025 Urban Farming Fair
The Newburgh Urban Farming Fair is a celebration of fresh food, local vendors, crafts, and farm fun. Attendees will learn about urban farming and gardening and participate in “how to demonstrations” about what they can do in their own yards and neighborhoods.
Many Newburgh groups will have a presence, including Newburgh’s 2024 Environmental Justice Fellows.
13th Annual Newburgh Community Cleanup
Now in its 13th year, the Newburgh Community Cleanup is a city-wide volunteer effort to keep Newburgh clean and green all year long. Hosted by Safe Harbors of the Hudson in collaboration with the City of Newburgh and local partners, the event has had a real and measurable impact over the years: at the first Cleanup in 2011, volunteers removed 17.49 tons of garbage from city streets; in 2024, the total hauled away was only 5.9 tons–a 66% decrease!
Join us Saturday, April 26 on Safe Harbors Green at 9am to check-in; heavy duty gloves and garbage bags will be provided. Please note: this is NOT a bulk pickup day for large items. This event is rain or shine.

Arbor Day Tree Planting on Broadway
The Conservation Advisory Council (CAC) and Department of Public Works (DPW) celebrate Newburgh’s 20 Years as a Tree City USA with an Arbor Day planting of trees to shade and cool our urban streets! Stay tuned for details.
